[Applause] in this tutorial Iamp;#39;m gonna cover the terms ASCII and Unicode for the GCSE computer science course we already know how to convert ordinary decimal numbers into binary code we simply take the eighth place value columns for the binary table identify which of those numbers we need in order to add up to the total in this case of 182 and then put ones under each of those numbers filling the remaining columns with zeros but how can we do the same thing for letters we understand numbers can become numbers but how do we turn letters into binary numbers every single key on your keyboard has a number associated with it every single character that you can type can be translated into a decimal number for example the character capital A on your keyboards becomes the number 65 this is a standard and is globally recognized itamp;#39;s part of the ASCII table every letter every symbol and every number on your keyboard has a corresponding number associated with it so a is always 65 E

The ASCII characters with codes in the range 0 to 31 and which are called control characters (or control codes) are invisible, i.e., they do not represent printable characters on the screen. Instead they provide a way to give instructions to peripheral devices such as printers and screens.
The magic sequence of keys Alt-255 typed at numeric keypad places an Invisible Character symbol into text. This character looks like a blank space in the program code and SAS output but is processed and printed by many programs as a valid text character.
ASCII stands for American Standard Code for Information Interchange. It ranges from 0 to 255 in Decimal or 00 to FF in Hexadecimal. ASCII codes can be divided into two sets - Standard ASCII codes and Extended ASCII codes.
Finally, if you want to really impress, you can indicate that one thing is identical to another with the symbol, which you can type by using ALT+8-8-0-1.
The first, with values from 0 to 127 are considered the Standard ASCII character set. Characters with values from 128 to 255 are the Extended character set. To actually display most of the extended character set you must use an escape character in a string to create that character. The escape character is \xnnn.
The char(255) represents the symbol. However, when viewed in the console, it might appear as a space because many consoles dont support this Unicode character and display a space instead of the unsupported .
1) Press the Alt key on your keyboard, and do not let go. 2) While keep press Alt, on your keyboard type the number 255, which is the number of the letter or symbol nbsp in ASCII table.
