For example, they cannot retain certain types of formatting, like Track Changes or comments. Additionally, they may not support certain kinds of images or objects. However, despite these limitations, RTF files remain an excellent way to transfer documents between different word processing programs or operating systems.
For example, RTF does not support tables or images. Another disadvantage is that RTF files can be larger than other types of text files, such as plaintext files. This is because RTF files contain more information about the formatting of the document.
RTF does not support VBA macros. However, templates that contain macros can be actively associated with an RTF file. RTF does not support toolbars, because document-specific toolbars employ VBA. In the same way, RTF does not support autotext lists since these also employ VBA.
The max number of characters that a field can have on a template is 4000 characters.

Creating an RTF template file consists of two basic steps: Design your template layout. Use the formatting features of your word processing application and save the file as RTF. Mark up your template layout. Insert the BI Publisher simplified tags.
It can be exploited by an attacker by sending a malicious email or uploading file containing RTF payload and enticing the user to open the file. When the victim opens the malicious file, the attacker gains access to execute arbitrary code within the application used to open the file.
