Hey everyone this is Self Made Millennial, Im Madeline Mann. You know I normally object to objective statements being on a resume, but there are some key situations where if you use an objective statement it can seriously prevent you from being rejected. In this video I will give you examples of when you definitely should and definitely should not put an objective statement on your resume. Objective statements are generally at the top of a resume and they state why youre applying, such as: I will tell you an objective statement like this is generally a waste of space. I mean, they already know youre a recent grad, they know that youre applying for the financial analyst position, every company feels that theyre impactful or innovative in some way, so you can delete all of this. But in some cases you are going to want to avoid the two second trash, which is a term I use to explain those two seconds a recruiter looks at your resume, sees something doesnt add up, and just immediately

When using a bulleted list, try to keep it between 5-8 bullet points, with each point ideally taking up no more than 1-2 lines. Particularly when dealing with lengthier job descriptions and more detail, I find it effective to break up the next by utilizing a combination of BOTH bullets and paragraphs.
Theres nothing entirely wrong with using paragraphs. In fact, the place where its most appropriate is your summary section. Unlike bullet points though, it can be difficult to find key details within the first few seconds. They take more effort to read through compared to a 1-2 line bullet point.
Keep it concise Your resume summary should be no longer than three to four sentences. This means you need to be concise and to the point. Avoid using vague or generic statements that dont add any value to your summary.
A good resume summary is two to four sentences long and includes: Your years of experience and job title. Some of your biggest achievements to date. A couple of your most essential skills that are relevant for the role.
Clarity and Readability: A simple format ensures that your resume is easy to read and understand. Hiring managers often have limited time to review each application, so they appreciate resumes that are well-organized and straightforward.
Complete sentences are not necessary in resume writing; it is better to use bulleted simple descriptive statements to make a point. Eliminate redundancies. Employers state resumes get less than a 15-30 second glance, so say exactly what you mean, using the smallest number of words to make the point.
