Step By Step: How to Fix Light Scuffs on Leather Boots and Shoes Step 1: Clean the surface. Step 2: Heat the scuffed area lightly with a hair dryer. Step 3: Massage the scuffed area with a clean cloth or towel. Step 4: If the scuff is still visible, apply petroleum jelly to the surface of your shoe.
For fixing scuffs, use a colored polish. Colored polish will help cover up the scuff and make it less visible.
Scuffed leather can usually be treated by using a filler cream to even out or buff the scuffed surface. Then, touch up the area with a matching dye, pigment, or polish.
A pencil eraser works great for simple scuffs because the eraser itself is soft enough that it wont damage the leather. Apply moderate pressure and work the eraser across the scuff to remove the added material.
Soap and Water Can Save the Day Warm water is the first solution to try when removing scuff marks. The addition of some gentle dish soap can make things even easier. Take a soft sponge or cloth, dampen it with the water-based solution, and gently wipe the targeted area until the scuff mark disappears.
Apply a small amount of polish to the scuffed area and use a soft cloth or a shoe brush to spread it evenly. Allow the polish to dry, then buff it with a clean cloth to achieve a polished finish. The polish will cover up the scuff and provide a layer of protection for the leather.
Clean the plastic surface with a damp cloth, rubbing in a circular motion around the scratch. Dry the area to remove any dirt which should make the process easier to carry out. Apply a mild abrasive, such as toothpaste, furniture polish, baking soda or plastic polish to the scratch.
