- Hey everybody, Iamp;#39;m Attorney Michael Conte, Iamp;#39;ve had several clients recently ask whatamp;#39;s sealing their criminal records. So I wanna make a short video to discuss the three benefits to sealing your criminal record. But before we get into that I wanna talk a little bit about the difference between expunging a record and sealing a record. When you expunge a record, what happens is all trace of that record, all police reports, all information, all the databases in the courts, in the police departments, in the probation office for the state itamp;#39;s just erased and wiped out forever. Okay, thatamp;#39;s expunging.Itamp;#39;s also much more difficult to do than sealing a record, itamp;#39;s only done under very specific circumstances. When you seal a criminal record, what youamp;#39;re doing is essentially the records remain in all those places but when certain people make inquiries like employers or other people concerning whether or not you have a criminal

To expunge is to erase or remove completely. In law, expungement is the process by which a record of criminal conviction is destroyed or sealed from state or federal record.
Expunging Your Record ($375.00) Preparing petitions, orders, notices, and any corroborating documents. Making court appearances and arguing your case before the judge and filing motions to reconsider, if necessary. The attorneys fee for expunging your record is $375.00.
A person who has any pending criminal charges is not eligible for expungement. Minor traffic offenses cannot be expunged (except if released without charges). The following court supervision records also cant be expunged: reckless driving (age 25 or older), DUIs, and sexual offenses against a minor.
Once you have your criminal history, you can determine whether you are eligible for expungement. If you are, you must mail a completed copy of the WSP Request for Expungement / Deletion of Non-Criminal Records to Washington State Patrol, Criminal History Records Section, P.O. Box 42633, Olympia, WA 98504-02633.
These can range from $100 to $400, depending on the court and the type of expungement youre seeking. Bottom Line: Expunging your record in Washington State can be a process, but it is achievable. The cost can vary depending on whether you need a lawyer and the type of expungement youre seeking.
The law says that a DUI conviction must stay on your record for 99 years in Washington State. It cannot be expunged, vacated, or sealed. For the rest of your life - it is on your permanent record. This can have many adverse consequences.
For a more in-depth look into the process and the specific conditions that must be met to vacate a conviction in Washington state, read on. A felony conviction will remain on your criminal record indefinitely, unless you take action to have it removed through the expungement process.
Under Ohio law, after a conviction of a felony, a statutory waiting period of three years must have passed before one is actually eligible for to begin the expungement process. The clock does not start ticking when the conviction is recorded by the Court; however, it starts from the final date of discharge.
