It is my honor to interview Professor Niklaus Wirth for the Turing Award Winners Project of the Association for Computing Machinery, the ACM. The Turing Award, sometimes referred to as the Nobel Prize of computing, is given annually for major contributions of lasting importance in computing. Professor Wirth received his award in 1984 in recognition of his outstanding work in developing a sequence of programming languages Euler, Algol-W, Pascal, Modula. The hallmarks of Wirths languages are their simplicity, economy of design, and high-level engineering.
