XML files are encoded in plaintext, so you can open them in any text editor and be able to clearly read it. Right-click the XML file and select Open With. This will display a list of programs to open the file in. Select Notepad (Windows) or TextEdit (Mac).
Viewing XML Files Most browsers will display an XML document with color-coded elements. Often a plus (+) or minus sign (-) to the left of the elements can be clicked to expand or collapse the element structure. To view raw XML source, try to select View Page Source or View Source from the browser menu.
To access XML formatting options, choose Tools Options Text Editor XML, and then choose Formatting.
To show or hide the hidden fields click on the empty space to the left of the words, Show hidden fields. This option will now be enabled/disabled.
Dragging and dropping your XML file into the browser will prompt the browser to display the XML files code in a tree view. You can click the + or - (or, if youre using Chrome, the triangle) to the left of a main tag in the XML code to minimize or expand the code.
