Andy Warhol is often credited with pushing camouflage into everyday fashion. His colourful Camouflage prints allowed designers to reimagine the pattern as a print for everyday clothing. Soon, civilians started wearing the print with irony, as a counterculture statement against the Vietnam War.
The use of camouflage in the First World War took many forms, among them, camouflage trees. A camouflage tree was an observation post made from a hollow metal cylinder, which was camouflaged to resemble a dead tree. Camouflaged observation posts were highly valuable during the First World War.
Woodland. US Woodland is possibly the most famous camouflage ever created, its the pattern that pops into most peoples heads when they think of camo.
For the early season, while the vegetation is green, Verde is a top choice for whitetail deer camo. Verde is also ideal in evergreen environments year-round. Valo is the top choice in hardwood applications after the colors have changed and the vegetation has died off or gone dormant.
The idea of patterned camouflage extends back to the interwar period in Europe. The first printed camouflage pattern was the 1929 Italian telo mimetico, which used irregular areas of three colours at a single scale.
The First Hunting Camouflage Hunters were limited to military camo options, or plaid garments, until 1980 when Jim Crumley launched the Trebark brand. The process started in the 1970s when Crumley got serious about his desire to become less detectable in the woods while hunting.
Camouflage was first developed in France in 1914 by artist Lucien-Victor Guirand de Scvola and others. The theatrical nature of the subject encouraged artists to participate in the attempts to hide military personnel and actions. The British followed, with the Americans coming later.
The painters George DeForest Brush, Barry Faulkner, and Abbott Thayer all worked to persuade the military to adopt principles of coloration to mask ships, weapons and troops.
