The CSS margin property is used to set a margin on all four sides of an element. When two elements are next to each other on a page vertically, one of the elements might lose its vertical margin. This means the top and bottom margins of elements are sometimes combined into a single margin.
Adding Padding to the Parent Element: One approach to disable margin collapsing is to add padding to the parent element. This will create a new block formatting context, which will prevent the margins of the child elements from collapsing with the margins of the parent element.
Top and bottom margins of elements are sometimes collapsed into a single margin that is equal to the largest of the two margins. This does not happen on left and right margins!
Also, consider the layout mode when adding a margin. Take note of which layout mode you are in and watch out for margin collapse whenever in normal Flow Layout. To add spacing between siblings and avoid margin collapse altogether, consider using Flexbox or Grid and utilizing their gap functionalities.
Try it! Select Layout Margins. Select Custom Margins. In Margins, use the Up and Down arrows to enter the values you want. Select OK when done.

Margin collapse occurs when vertically adjacent margins of block-level elements collide to share a general margin space. The size of this shared space is dictated by the larger number margin. You can visualize this as an arm wrestling match, where the larger margin will take over and win.
You can remove this margin by setting the top and left margin to zero. Like the padding and border, the sizes of specific sides of the margin can be set using margin-left , margin-right , margin-top , and margin-bottom .
