RTF is a file format used to encode formatted text and graphics. Unlike plain text files, RTF files can contain various formatting elements such as fonts, colors, styles, and images.
Right-click on the folder or file and select Properties. Open the General tab, and select the Advanced button. Check the box next to Encrypt contents to secure data. After checking the box, select Apply and click OK.
Open the text file you want to encrypt using a text editor of your choice. Go to the File menu and select Save As to create a new, encrypted version of the file. Choose a secure password that is easy for you to remember but difficult for others to guess.

RTF does not support VBA macros. However, templates that contain macros can be actively associated with an RTF file. RTF does not support toolbars, because document-specific toolbars employ VBA. In the same way, RTF does not support autotext lists since these also employ VBA.
You can open and convert Rich Text files (RTF) in almost any text editor or word processor, including Microsoft Word and Google Docs.
