There is no right or wrong answer when it comes to carrying with a manual safety. Ultimately, the decision comes down to your personal preference and comfort level.
Carrying your gun inside the waistband is one of the most popular methods for concealed carry. It allows you to have a good grip on your gun and keep it hidden from view. IWB carriers offer the same benefits as OWB carriers, but they are easier to conceal and less likely to snag on clothing.
All and all, the outside the waistband 3 or 9 oclock position is awesome for sitting and general carry. While sitting, it is still easily accessible with the proper attire and super comfortable. If you have a pistol that you can confidently conceal in this position then I highly recommend giving this position a try.
Button safeties are usually found on the trigger guard or on the receiver of the firearm. When the button safety is located on the trigger guard, it can be either behind or in front of the trigger. Usually, when pushed to the right, the safety is engaged, and when it is pushed to the left the safety is disengaged.
Your firearm should have a safety that locks the firearm from being able to fire. When the safety is on you cannot see the red dot. When the safety is taken off there is a red dot, which means the firearm is now ready to fire. Once a firearms red dot is exposed it should be handled with even more care.
Finally, unless youre carrying a 1911 style gun (I would include in the 1011 category the tiny single action guns like Springfield 1911 and Sig Sauer P938, which lack the additional grip safety of a 1911), theres no rule that says you have to keep the safety on.
With the pistol loaded, the thumb safety must be ON (UP) until ready to fire. Failure to engage the thumb safety can lead to accidental discharge, causing injury, death or damage to property. After each discharge, the pistol is in the cocked and ready to fire condition.
In some cases, it is not necessary to clean a new gun. They are built to be fired right out of the box. In other cases, however, the manufacturer recommends cleaning the gun to eliminate the anti-corrosive and rust-prevention residue from the materials used to package the gun for sale.
