all right guys so even after youamp;#39;ve done your artwork and did the background removal with the laser and stuff um itamp;#39;s not a turnkey deal thereamp;#39;s still some work to be done um it is a heck of a Time Saver but you know everything thatamp;#39;s a blessing is also a curse so if we take a look at it what it ends up looking like when it comes off the laser and you can see the backgroundamp;#39;s in pretty good but thereamp;#39;s a little bit of a burn Edge there and you donamp;#39;t get this with uh natural hand engraving because those lines the what will become the engraved lines on the top even though they would hit very lightly with the laser thereamp;#39;s no bevel there wouldnamp;#39;t be a bevel like you would get with an actual Graver and if we look at this through the microscope you can see some of the imperfections of the laser and I donamp;#39;t mean that in a negative way it just is what it is you can see it does a pretty nice texture in the backgrou

Laser engraving is mostly permanent, though in some cases, fading is possible. Plastics and wood materials are the top culprits for fading when engraving is on a high-contact area or when sun exposure is common.
To seal your laser cut leather engraving, apply a light coat of beeswax, saddle soap, or leather conditioner oil. Allow it to air dry completely. Apply a second coat if needed. Then, coat the smooth grain leather with a protective leather sealer, covering all the way to the edges.
My paint of choice is Rust-Oleum flat black (non-aerosol). This is available at hardware stores everywhere. There are other flat black paints available, and they probably work just as well. Be sure to use flat black and not satin black, as satin black produces small amount of shine which is undesirable.
In order to get started with color engraving, there are two methods you can consider. Antiquing: This paint-like process is very simple yet effective if you want to just touch up your engraving and make it a bit darker in order for it to stand out. Enameling: Enameling is another way to do color engraving!
When looking to achieve a dark black appearance, treating wood with solutions such as water and borax or baking soda before engraving can be helpful. Other makers find that using products designed to enhance appearance after engraving is ideal.
You may be able to apply a darker stain or oil (food safe) that will absorb into the etched areas faster than the original surface finish thus turn it darker, or if you dont want that etched side to be used not worried about food safe, you may be able to even apply paint or wax or color filler and wipe it off the
Apply Darkening Agent: Once the engraving is complete, apply a darkening agent or ink to the engraved area. Brush or rub the agent into the engraved lines or markings, ensuring it fills all the grooves. Clean Excess Darkening Agent: Wipe off any excess darkening agent from the surface using a clean cloth or tissue.
Not only can you directly engrave a variety of fabrics, but you can cut them as well! An Epilog Laser machine allows you to quickly and easily laser cut twill appliques, leather hat patches, pvc-free heat transfer material, and so much more!
