Construction Types IA and IB are considered noncombustible and fire resistive. The most docHub difference between Type IA and IB is the level of fire resistance required for the building elements, with IA having a higher fire resistance.
Type A buildings are protected constructions and Type B structures are unprotected constructions. Protected constructions are more fire-resistant than unprotected constructions.
Type II: Non-Combustible Similar to Type I buildings, the building materials of Type II construction projects, including interior walls, framing, floors, roofing, and exteriors, are all made of non-combustible materials such as metal and concrete.
Type I: Noncombustible (or limited-combustible) construction with a high level of fire resistance, typically concrete construction. Type II: Noncombustible (or limited-combustible) construction with a lower level of fire resistance than Type I, typically this is steel construction with or without fireproofing.
Concealed and Concealed Work means Work installed in spaces out of sight. For example, above ceilings, below floors, between double walls, within furred-in areas, within pipe and duct shafts, behind cabinets, and similar locations and spaces not exposed to view.
602.3 Type III Type III construction is that type of construction in which the exterior walls are of noncombustible materials and the interior building elements are of any material permitted by this code.
Type II Construction: Non-Combustible They typically contain metal floors and metal roofs with masonry or tilt-slab walls. Newer school buildings, shopping malls, and recently renovated commercial buildings typically fall under this construction type.
