so one of the things that we like to avoid if possible is any sort of thermal bridge and beams coming out of walls are going to the exterior to hold up a roof or deck is a big thermal Bridge depending on what the material is now sometimes you canamp;#39;t avoid it because itamp;#39;s the design that the client wants and I agree a lot of these designs look amazing but in this case you can see we have a beam that has to sit on a post in here which is coming outside so it is wood so itamp;#39;s not as big of a thermal Bridge as steel but this is a thermal bridge and it is a little bit of a weak point for our air barrier that we have to manage so if you are designing and you really want to get the best performing house these are details you can avoid but itamp;#39;s always a balance between Aesthetics and what performs well so I do get it
