hi in this video Im going to show you how to take data thats a date and thats separated into separate columns such as the month day and year and combine it all into one column so it makes it a little bit more easy to use and view so its basically a pretty easy type of function the function used to combine the month day and year all into one cell is the date function and its actually pretty easy to use so I can do is go into this column type of date and select the date function and its gonna take three arguments the Year month and day so Im gonna select the year here comma months comma and day and just press ENTER and youll see that it has showed up now we see that the the value is kind of nicely formatted here and Excel is smart enough to figure out that this is a date but sometimes when Excel uses day formula you get this general no specific date formula and this is basically the serial number format which Excel sees dates and the way it displays States is what I showed you e

Right click on cell then choose Format Cells. Use yyyy/M/D to custom number format. See below screenshot. If you want to show result on different cell by formula then can use TEXT() function like.
Conditional formatting is a feature included in spreadsheet creation programs. It automatically applies formatting to a cell when the data in that cell meets a specific criteria. In this post, I will be sharing with you a video walkthrough on how to conditionally format an Excel or CSV file in Alteryx.
To convert each of these dates to a number, we can highlight the range of cells that contain the dates, then click the Number format dropdown menu on the Home tab and choose Number: This will automatically convert each date to a number that represents the number of days between each date and 1/1/1900: What is this?
Convert Month Name to Number Convert Month Name to Number. Simply change the date format from MMM (abbreviated name) or MMMM (full name) to M (month number, no leading zero) or MM (month number, with leading zero). You can change the date format from the Cell Formatting Menu: Type M or MM in the Type area.
Therefore, if you want to find out the month corresponding to a number, you can multiply the number by 29, so that we get the number corresponding to a day in that month. For example, if you multiply 5 by 29, you get 145, which can be any day in the 5th month of the year.
There are two Excel functions that can help you convert month names to numbers - DATEVALUE and MONTH. Excels DATEVALUE function converts a date stored as text to a serial number that Microsoft Excel recognizes as a date. And then, the MONTH function extracts a month number from that date.
Select + Add Column and enter the new column name. Data type: Select a data type, if necessary. For FixedDecimal values, there is an implicit conversion to Double in the Formula tool. Size: Select to change the size or width of the data for Fixed Decimal, String, or Spatial Object data types.
If you will write MMM in the formula bar, then you can only get the first three-digit of month name i.e. Jan, Feb, Mar, etc as shown below. When you will write MMMM in the formula bar, then you will get all the digit of month name i.e. January, February, March, etc.
The formula would be [Day]+-+[Month]+-+[Year] for your new field, but please note that the Alteryx standard date format is yyyy-mm-dd.
Select the cell or range of cells that you want to format. Press Ctrl+1 to load the Format Cells dialog. Select the Number tab, then in the Category list, click Custom and then, in the Type box, type the number format, such as 000-00-0000 for a social security number code, or 00000 for a five-digit postal code.
