A high-resolution picture is bound to be of a large size. This makes your deck heavy and it takes forever to upload or send as an attachment. An easy way to solve this problem would be by compressing your images. As you can see in the example, the file size decreased from 16.8MB to 6.55Mb.
Compress a PowerPoint file by reducing the size and quality of your images. Open the presentation in PowerPoint. Click File on the top toolbar and choose Options Advanced. Under the Image Size and Quality heading, choose these settings: Check Discard editing data. Uncheck Do not compress images in file. Click OK.
Using the Zamzar PPT compression tool, individual (and sizeable) elements - such as pictures and videos - are compressed bringing the overall file size down. Once compressed, the PPT (including the images and video within it) does not suffer from any noticeable loss in quality despite the file size being shrunk.
Some template designers will add photos to slide layouts, which makes a presentation have a permanently large file size. To check, choose ViewSlide Master, check each slide layout and remove any photos or other content.
This can happen if you have your display settings in PowerPoint set up to Optimize for best appearance. To fix this in the future, you can follow these steps: In PowerPoint, go to File Options General User Interface options. Make sure Optimize for compatibility is ticked.
Browse to the presentation you want to compress. Right-click the presentation, and select Send to Compressed (zipped) folder. Windows creates a new zip file and gives it an identical name as the PowerPoint file. Send the compressed file to your intended recipient, who can then decompress the file just by clicking it.
Open the presentation that contains the audio or video files. On the File tab, select Info, and then in the Media Size and Performance section, select Compress Media*.
