You can simply open them up in Preview and theres a special way to export them that compresses the images inside them. However the image compression settings arent the greatest and it takes several steps. Ill show you how to build something in Automator that could do it quickly and also allow you to customize the compression. So here Ive got a sample PDF on my desktop. I can open it up and you can see its just a sample electric bill. I scanned it in using my iPhone. The file size is a little bit bigger than I like. Im going to do Command i to get information and see that its 6.8 MB. It can definitely be smaller. So lets go and open it

#1 Compress Your PDF File with docHub Heres what you need to do: Go to the Tools tab select Optimize PDF click Open to access the PDF file you want to compress select Reduce File Size click OK. Alternatively, you can use docHub Online PDF Compressor.
Optimize a PDF (Acrobat Pro) Open a PDF in Acrobat. Choose File Reduce File Size or Compress PDF. Note: Choose the location to save the file and click Save. Acrobat displays a message showing the successful reduction in PDF size.
In the Preview app on your Mac, open the PDF that you want to compress. Choose File Export. (Dont choose Export as PDF.) Click the Quartz Filter pop-up menu, then choose Reduce File Size.
Preview on Mac Double-click on the PDF file you want to compress to open it. By default, it should open in Preview. In the menu bar, click File, then click Export. Click the Quartz Filter dropdown menu. Select Reduce File Size, then click Save. The compressed PDF file will be saved to your computer.
You can compress a file in the native iPad Preview app by navigating to File Export, choosing the PDF as the format, and selecting Reduce File Size.
How to reduce PDF file size on iPhone. Open Safari or any other web browser on your iPhone. Navigate to the Acrobat online PDF compressor. Tap Select a File and upload your PDF. After uploading, Acrobat will automatically reduce the size of your PDF. Download your compressed PDF and share it.
Open your PDF file in Preview. It should be the default option, but in case it isnt, Right Click on the PDF file, select Open with Preview. Then, click File Export, and in the Quartz Filter drop-down box, select Reduce File Size.
