As an alternative, Gary will show you how to use Automator to quickly compress PDF files and customize the compression. He will demonstrate this using a sample PDF file of an electric bill that is larger than desired at 6.8 MB.

Step 1: Open Photos on your Mac and select the image. Step 2: Select File Export from the menu bar in Photos. Pick Export 1 Photo from the pop-out menu. Step 3: In the window, next to Photo Kind, select JPEG.
How to convert HEIC to JPG on a Mac Use the Preview app to open the HEIC image. From the top menu, select File and then Export. You will see a Format drop-down menu. Use it to select JPG as the format. Give your new JPG photo a name and choose where you want to save it. Click Save, and youre done.
2. Export to JPG: Once youve got your PDF open in Preview, click on File in the top menu. Select Export from the drop-down menu. In the dialog that pops up, youll see a Format dropdown. Click on that and choose JPEG. Choose the quality you want and where to save it, and boom, youve got yourself a JPG.
To convert PDF to JPEG Open the PDF in Acrobat. Select Convert from the global bar. From the left panel, select image format, and then from the drop-down menu, select JPEG. Select Convert to JPEG. In the dialog that opens, select a location where you want to save the file and if required, change the file name.
Without Acrobat. Find the PDF in Finder. Right-click on the file. Select Open With Preview. Click File Export. Set the Format drop-down menu to JPEG. Name the file and choose where you want to save the converted file. Then, click Save.
Using Power PDF to quickly swap formats Open Power PDF. Open the PDF file that you want to convert. Use Save As to open the file save dialog. Select the destination folder for your converted file. Select JPG from the Save as drop-down menu. Select ok and save your document.
Click File from the Preview menu, and then click Save As. A dialog box opens. Type a name for the file, then click a folder on your Mac where you want to save the JPEG file. Click the Format drop-down menu, and then click JPEG. Click Save to save the file as a JPEG image file.
In the Preview app on your Mac, open the PDF that you want to compress. Choose File Export. Click the Quartz Filter pop-up menu, then choose Reduce File Size.
