If you were to print a copy of your document, and ask a friend to proofread it, theyd probably mark the errors in red pen, and write any suggestions they had in the margins. Wouldnt it be easier if you could do that electronically? In Word, you canusing two features called Track Changes and Comments. Im going to turn on track changes right now so I can show you what I mean. To do this, go to the Review tab then click the Track Changes command. Now any changes I make to the document will appear as markup, which is Words answer to the traditional red pen. For example, when I delete text, it doesnt go away it just gets crossed out. When I add more text, it gets underlined. This lets the owner of the document see what changes Ive made before making them part of the final draft. You can also add comments in the margins by selecting the text you want to comment on then clicking the New Comment command. To copy a comment, follow these steps: Make sure you are viewing your document in Draft view. Highlight the comment mark in your document. Press Ctrl+C. The comment mark and the associated comment are copied to the Clipboard. Position the insertion point at the location where you want to copy the comment. Press Ctrl+V.
You can try out these steps: Insert the first comment that you wish to later cross-reference. Select the text of the comment that you just entered. Display the Insert tab of the ribbon. Click the Bookmark tool in the Links group. Provide a name that you want to use to reference this comment.
Click Review| Compare | Combine. Under Original document, click the arrow and your document that contains the combined changes. Under Revised document, click the next copy you would like to merge. In the Label unmarked changes with, key in a name or phrase so you will know who suggested the changes. Click More.
Select Ctrl + C to copy all the comments. Alternately, you can right-click on any of the selected comments and then select Copy. 10. Open a new Word file or an existing Word file where you would like to paste the comments.
Merging Comments and Changes into One Document On the Review Ribbon, in the Compare Group, click on the Compare icon and choose Combine. In the resulting dialog box, choose your original document on left side and the revised document on the right side (click on the Folder icon to browse through your files).
To merge comments from two PDFs using Acrobat, simply follow these steps: Open the PDF where you want to apply comments. Click Comments on the top toolbar. Use the dropdown next to Options and select Import Data File. Choose the PDF with the comments you want to merge. Click Open.
Combine document revisions Click Review Compare Combine. Under Original document, click the down arrow and choose the document you sent for review. Under Revised document, choose the document you want to merge. In the Label unmarked changes with box, type a name or phrase so youll know who suggested the changes.
