Combination charts are designed to visually highlight differences between sets of data and make it easy to see one set of information presented in relationship with other data. For instance, in the example below, the combination chart uses a bar chart and a line graph together.
How to show two sets of data on one graph in Excel Enter data in the Excel spreadsheet you want on the graph. Select the data you want on the graph. Click the Insert tab and then look at the Recommended Charts in the charts group. Choose All Charts and click Combo as the chart type.
By definition, Combo Charts are a combination of two or more chart types. You can combine multiple column charts, a line graph and a bar graph, two line graphs, etc.
To create a combo chart, select the data you want displayed, then click the dialog launcher in the corner of the Charts group on the Insert tab to open the Insert Chart dialog box. Select combo from the All Charts tab. Select the chart type you want for each data series from the dropdown options.
Combo charts combine two or more chart types to make the data easy to understand. Shown with a secondary axis, this chart is even easier to read. You have mixed type of data (for example, price and volume).
On the All Charts tab, choose Combo, and then pick the Clustered Column - Line on Secondary Axis chart. Under Choose the chart type and axis for your data series , check the Secondary Axis box for each data series you want to plot on the secondary axis, and then change their chart type to Line.
A combo chart is a combination of two column charts, two line graphs, or a column chart and a line graph. You can make a combo chart with a single dataset or with two datasets that share a common string field. Combo charts can answer questions about your data, such as: What are the trends for the same categories?
If your two charts contain different types of data, you cant combine the two charts into one. If both charts have a numeric Y axis, Excel actually will allow you to perform the task, but the resulting chart may not make much sense.
