This video tutorial demonstrates how to combine date data from separate columns into one in Excel using the DATE function. By selecting the year, month, and day as arguments for the function, Excel will format the data into a single cell making it easier to use and view. Occasionally, Excel may display the date in a serial number format instead of a specific date formula.

SQL Server doesnt have a date format, just formats it uses to convert dates to and from strings. One of them is the default, controlled by the servers collation. You can neither assume nor should you depend on a specific collation, so you should avoid conversions whenever possible.
You can use the COLLATE clause to apply a character expression to a certain collation. Character literals and variables are assigned the default collation of the current database. Column references are assigned the definition collation of the column.
The Latin1GeneralCIAS collation is a Windows collation and the rules around sorting unicode and non-unicode data are the same. A Windows collation as per this example can still use an index if comparing unicode and non-unicode data albeit with a slight performance hit.
Collations in SQL Server provide sorting rules, case, and accent sensitivity properties for your data. Collations that are used with character data types, such as char and varchar, dictate the code page and corresponding characters that can be represented for that data type.
And finally, you can use the international standard for writing dates in English write the year first, followed by the month and then the day (also known as YYYY/MM/DD format). This way, the same date would be written as 2022/01/05.
A common use of the query level collation (collate SQL) is to compare case-sensitive strings. For example, imagine two tables with similar collation and compare their columns using join or subquery. Data with the lower-case string exists in the chosen columns of those tables.
SQL Date Format with the FORMAT function Use the FORMAT function to format the date and time data types from a date column (date, datetime, datetime2, smalldatetime, datetimeoffset, etc. To get DD/MM/YYYY use SELECT FORMAT (getdate(), dd/MM/yyyy ) as date.
The COLLATE function copies the string, but puts the new collation specification rather than the original specification into the copy. The string itself is unchanged; only the collation specifier associated with the string is changed.
The international format yyyy-mm-dd or yyyymmdd is also accepted, though this format is not commonly used. The formats d. month name yyyy and in handwriting d/m-yy or d/m yyyy are also acceptable.)
SQL Server comes with the following data types for storing a date or a date/time value in the database: DATE - format YYYY-MM-DD.SQL Date Data Types DATE - format YYYY-MM-DD. DATETIME - format: YYYY-MM-DD HH:MI:SS. TIMESTAMP - format: YYYY-MM-DD HH:MI:SS. YEAR - format YYYY or YY.
