hi and welcome to this powershell tutorial video continuing our project series here so weamp;#39;ve been taking a look at all these beginner project ideas that iamp;#39;ve mentioned in a couple videos ago and that i have posted on my github today we are going to be looking at project number three which is going to be the log file cleanup automation so this is when we have log files maybe from multiple different projects maybe from systems that weamp;#39;ve installed that donamp;#39;t have automatic log cleanup uh which does happen quite often iamp;#39;ve installed some pieces of software that log to a folder and then just keeps adding logs until it fills up your entire drive especially if you just build the uh the servers up to spec and donamp;#39;t give them like any extra space um and then these log files could eventually even though a log file might only be one megabyte if they just keep accumulating you have the system running for four years uh itamp;#39;s very very likely t

Can we remove files from the /var/log/journal folder? Yes, indeed. Its completely fine as long as you dont require the logs for troubleshooting.
You can safely delete any *. log files you find within the C:\Windows folder without any consequences. They will be automatically recreated as soon as required.
The logs are generally just plain text files and are useful when handling program crashes. Theyre not used in any sessions or the program itself. So you should be safe deleting them.
User logs are a part of your user profile. You should know that deleting user logs is not an everyday operation. It may backfire if you dont know what youre deleting.

You can then delete the files that match your search criteria using the rm command. This command searches for all files in the /var/log directory that have a . log extension and deletes them using the rm command. The {} symbol is a placeholder for the file name that matches the search criteria.
