Cover the tinware in white vinegar for roughly 24 hours until the rust has dissolved. Be sure to use enough white vinegar to submerge the tinware. Scrub the rust off of the tinware using a rough sponge or aluminum foil, The longer you soak your tinware, the easier it will be to scrub the rust off.
Put a little bit of dish washing soap into some warm water and mix it up. You want enough soap so that you have a pretty good amount of bubbles. Dip your towel into the mixture and very lightly start wiping off any dirt and excess rust.
Antique metal is susceptible to rust leading to an unsightly appearance and lower value. There are several ways to remove rust with all-natural solutions from your kitchen. Items like ketchup, vinegar, baking soda and table salt are pantry staples that can restore your antique metal pieces to their original shine.

Tin is a relatively soft metal and the amount of force you can apply with a scrub sponge and an abrasive cleaner (such as Comet, Bon Ami, Bar Keepers Friend, Soft Scrub, et cetera) is enough to abrade it away.
Clean Silver with Vinegar This cleaning agent is a great option for many things, including your tarnished silver. Mix 1/2 cup of white vinegar with 2 tablespoons of baking soda in a bowl of lukewarm water. Let the silver soak for two to three hours. Rinse with cold water and let airdry.
Please use a soft sponge and kitchen detergents in washing tinware. Also, please do not scrub it with a hard brush because it may cause scratches. If it loses its color, please polish it with baking soda to restore its luster.
Never clean a tin with an abrasive cleaner and use soap only when absolutely necessary. Its best to clean with a soft, lint-free cloth moistened with fresh water. After washing, wait 24 hours before putting a cover back onto a tin, as any moisture trapped inside can cause the container to rust.
