Hydrogen peroxide is an excellent blood stain remover that works well on both fresh and set-in blood stains. However, hydrogen peroxide can have a bleaching effect on some textiles, so its important to perform a spot test before using it for stain removal.
The best blood-removal method probably involves items you already have in your home. Youll need hydrogen peroxide and an old toothbrush (or some other scrubby brush.) Optional items that can help make the stain removal more effective, but arent always needed, are Dawn dish soap and/or baking soda.
Yes, white vinegar can be an effective tool in removing blood stains. Test spot the fabric first, to ensure the vinegar wont discolor or damage it, then pour vinegar directly on the stain and let sit for at least 30 minutes before rinsing with cold water.
With OxiClean Versatile Stain Remover powder, you can remove old stains from clothes even after they have dried, grease and oil stains included. Plus, VSR is color safe, so you can use it to restore the life of old clothes and avoid having to buy new ones!
Treating Removing Dried Blood Stains Wash as normal with laundry detergent and an extra scoop of OxiClean Versatile Stain Remover. Thats how you use OxiClean to remove dried blood stains.
Hydrogen peroxide is a go-to blood stain remover, but be aware that it can have a bleaching effect on dark and non-colorfast fabrics. Before using hydrogen peroxide, spot test it on an inconspicuous place to avoid causing irreversible color loss.
Heres how: Remove any excess oil with a paper towel or cloth. Sprinkle baking soda on the affected fabric and allow it to sit for 24 hours. After a day passes, vacuum or brush the baking soda away. Spray the affected area with a solution of vinegar and water. Scrub with soap and a brush, then rinse.
Sponge the stained area with a dry-cleaning solvent; let it air-dry. Soak the stain in a solution of one cup of liquid laundry detergent and a few drops of ammonia (Caution: Never mix chlorine bleach and ammonia - the resulting fumes are hazardous) for at least 30 minutes. Launder using liquid laundry detergent.
