Using the tool, you can: Delete system temporary files; Delete system prefetch files; Execute a system file checker; Empty the recycle bin; Clear history, cookies, and cache for the installed web browsers; Disable search indexing; and. Enable storage sense.
Open the Start menu and select Settings System Storage . Open Storage settings. Select Configure Storage Sense or run it now, and under Temporary Files, select when you want each type of files deleted. Note: To delete unnecessary files manually instead, scroll down and under Free up space now, select Clean now.
Mostly, useless large junk files, big files, huge installed programs, and temporary files are taking up the most space in your system C drive after using your PC for a long time. So the other effective method you can try is to free up hard disk space.
Free up space with Disk Cleanup If your system doesnt have Storage Sense, you can use the Disk Cleanup tool to delete temporary files and system files from your device. In the search box on the taskbar, type disk cleanup, then select it from the results. Select the drive you want to clean up files for, then select OK.
Run Disk Cleanup. Free up disk space with Storage Sense (Windows 10) Uninstall non-essential applications and games. Move personal data to external hard drive. Save new personal files to another hard drive. Disable hibernation in Windows. Scan your computer with an anti-virus software.
Find and Remove Large Files There will always be files on your SSD that are too large, or you dont particularly want any more. A way to find these is by using built-in disk clean-up tools on your operating system, such as Disk Cleanup on Windows, or third-party software to clear files and free up storage.
Personal files such as videos, music, photos, and documents can take up a lot of space on your device. To see which files are using the most space: Select File Explorer from the taskbar and find the files you want to move. Under This PC in the menu on the left, select a folder to see what files are saved in it.
