To clear a particular bit of a register (e.g., clear Bit 4 of PORTA) while leaving the other bits unchanged do a bitwise AND of the register and a mask which has a 0 in the bit(s) you want to clear, and a 1 in the other bits.
Unset bits in the given range Calculate num = (1
To unset (clear) a specific bit in a binary number, you can use the bitwise AND () operator along with the bitwise NOT (~) operator.
Write Integers Using Hexadecimal and Binary Notation Do not use quotation marks when you write a number using this notation. Use 0 - 9 , A - F , and a - f to represent hexadecimal digits. Use 0 and 1 to represent binary digits.
Binary numbers are converted into letters using the American Society for Information Interchange codes. Each letter consists of eight numbers. Uppercase letters start with 010 and lowercase letters start with 011. The letter a is 01100001.
Clearing a bit Use the bitwise AND operator () to clear a bit. number = ~(1
Remember that in binary 1 is on: and 0 is off. Choose the binary number that you want to decode. Give each number a value, starting from the extreme right. For example, using the number 1001001, 1=1, +0=2, +0=4, +1=8, +0=16, +0=32, +1=64.
Clearing a bit Since bitwise AND of any bit with a reset bit results in a reset bit, i.e. Any bit Reset bit = Reset bit which means, 0 0 = 0 1 0 = 0. So for clearing a bit, performing a bitwise AND of the number with a reset bit is the best idea.
