To delete an index by using Object Explorer Expand the Indexes folder. Right-click the index you want to delete and select Delete.
You cannot delete the current write index of a data stream. To delete the index, you must roll over the data stream so a new write index is created. You can then use the delete index API to delete the previous write index.
Removing log indices by using Elasticsearch API Identify the indices that you want to delete based on your list from Step 1. From the left navigation window, prepare the request to delete your index. DELETE /{your index name} Click the green triangle to make the API call. Repeat the DELETE command delete more indices.
To delete all indices, use all or * . To disallow the deletion of indices with all or wildcard expressions, set the action. destructiverequiresname cluster setting to true .
You can go to Stack Management -- Index Lifecycle Management -- Create Policy and here in the Hot phase, set the number of days you want a particular index to be in Elasticsearch and then remove the Cold phase. Automatically after 7 days the data will be deleted.
If you no longer need an index, you can use the delete index API operation to delete it.
Method 2: Using del() function Using the sorted() function to sort the given indices list in descending order by passing given indices list and reverse=True as arguments to it. Use the for loop, to traverse in the given indices list. Use the del keyword, to delete the list item at the given index(iterator).
