In the simplest case you just use \thispagestyle{empty} after \tableofcontents . However there are several complications, so see the linked answer. One problem not discussed in the FAQ is if the table of contents is longer than 1 page.
In the TOC Editor, either select the TOC entry and press Delete or right-click it and select Delete from the shortcut menu. (Please note that the simple act of removing a TOC entry from the TOC associated with a Help targert doesnt necessarily mean the topic still wont get built into the Help output.

1 Answer. To remove the page number (as well as header and whole footer), you should use the \thispagestyle{empty} . Indeed, in the book class, new chapter pages are of style plain , that means without header yet with page numbering at the bottom.
Open the TOC, select the book level entry. Open the Properties for the book level (use F4, right-click, ) In the Link section just select and clear the link (there is no Unlink or Delete button), and click OK.
The \clearpage command ends the current page and causes all figures and tables that have so far appeared in the input to be printed.
