The simplest approach is to go to the Layout tab of the Ribbon click the Selection Pane button in the Arrange group. You then can select them one or more at a time in the Selection Pane in order to delete them.
Delete a text box Select the border of the text box that you want to delete, and then press Delete. Note: Make sure the pointer is on the border of the text box and not inside it. If the pointer is inside the box, pressing Delete will delete the text inside the text box, not the box.
Click on the arrow on the right side of the Bullets button. From the next window, select the None option in the Bullet Library section. With the check box removed, you can proceed to work on the document with the settings that were in place before you undertook the editing process.

Change the default checkbox fill This opens a menu called Content Control Properties. At the bottom of this menu, theres a section called Check Box Properties with options to change either the checked symbol or the unchecked symbol.
If it is an index entry, delete the corresponding XE field inserted by Word. To see XE fields as well as other hidden fields, display nonprinting marks; you can click the button on the Home tab. When you are done, update the index.
In the Font box, select Wingdings. In the Character code box at the bottom, enter: 252. In the grid of symbols, the check mark. is selected.
