SARAH KIRBY:amp;gt;amp;gt; We are here at a house that was heavily damaged by Hurricane Matthew. It experienced extensive flooding, and some of the things we are going to talk about related to this house are things that youll find when you return to your home after flooding. Before you ever get to inside the house, though, there are a couple of things youll need to do to outside the house. The first thing youll need to do is look at the house and make sure its structurally sound to enter. So youll walk around the house and look for things like cracks, settling of the foundation, stairs that may be broken away, bricks that may have moved, columns -- things like that that may be out of place. Youll also want to make sure the roof isnt sagging that everythings OK there; that the electrical lines are not down, that there are no holes or obvious hazards outside the house that you might encounter. So one of the thing youll notice about this house is that it has wall-to-wall carp

The useEffect Hook is designed to allow the return of a function within it, which serves as a cleanup function. The cleanup function prevents memory leaks a situation where your application tries to update a state memory location that no longer exists and removes unnecessary and unwanted behaviors.
useEffect runs initially when the component mounts. After that it depends on the state change. So next time when isLoggedIn changes, it will cause the useEffect to run again. But there is no logic or button to actually change the state, So itll only run once.
2 Answers. (1)first useEffect call is when component mount. (2)if you pass second Array dependencies argument to useEffect and that argument wasnt empty, any time one of that dependency changes useEffect also recalled.
callback argument is a function where to put the side-effect logic. dependencies is a list of dependencies of your side-effect: being props or state values. useEffect(callback, dependencies) invokes the callback after initial rendering (mounting), and on later renderings, if any value inside dependencies has changed.
Thus, before the component is unmounted, it makes sure that everything is in working order. The useEffect cleanup function is called when a component that uses the useEffect hook unmounts. Its job is to tidy up any unintended consequences that might affect the code.
In this example, we define a state variable called data and initialize it to null . We then use useEffect to fetch data from an API and update the data state variable with the response. The [] empty array as second argument tells React to only execute the callback once, after the initial render.
useEffect returns either a function or undefined, so its not uncommon to see effects that havent been cleaned up. React will compare the current value of the constraint with the value from the previous render. If they are not equal, the effect is called.
