Use baking soda. Mix baking soda with either toothpaste or water to remove the stain. If using water, mix 2 parts baking soda with 1 part water. Use a rag to gently scrub the stain. If using baking soda with toothpaste, mix equal parts together.
To remove wood stain, use a chemical wood stripper or sand the surface thoroughly. Apply the stripper with a brush, let it sit, and scrape off the softened stain. Sand any remaining residue. Always wear protective gear and work in a well-ventilated area.
Mix a teaspoon of salt with several drops of water and apply onto the wood stain in a gentle, circular motion. Wipe off the residue with a damp cloth, and youre done. Dab a little car wax on more stubborn stains using your finger to trace the water ring. Let the wax dry, and buff the wood with a soft cloth.
To get rid of the excess stain now, take a cloth dampened with mineral spirits and use that to scrub down the piece. This should remove the excess stain. Alternatively, apply another coat of stain, wait a couple of minutes for it to soften up the old, tacky, excess stain, then take a cloth and rub away the excess.
To remove a stain from wood without sanding, use a mixture of baking soda and water or a wood-specific cleaner. Apply gently with a soft cloth and rub in the direction of the grain. For tougher stains, a bit of white vinegar can help.
Use a brush or roller to spread ZAR Paint and Varnish Remover over the entire surface to be stripped. It will begin dissolving the paint/finish. The use of an old toothbrush makes the cleaning process on curvy or uneven surfaces easier.
Minwax PolyShades is an easy way to change the color of your currently stained or polyurethane finished wood. Theres no stripping or heavy sanding necessary to remove the old finish!
Sponge the stain with cool water or soak it in cool water for about 30 minutes. Pretreat with a prewash stain remover. Launder; if safe for the fabric, add chlorine bleach to the wash.
