What is sample cleanup?

Protein sample clean up refers to the process of removing non-protein agents that can interfere with the results of downstream processes such as isoelectric focusing (IEF) and 2D electrophoresis.

What are spri beads?

Solid Phase Reversible Immobilisation beads were developed at the Whitehead Institute (DeAngelis et al 1995) for purification of PCR amplified colonies in the DNA sequencing group. SPRI beads are paramagnetic (magnetic only in a magnetic field) and this prevents them from clumping and falling out of solution.

How does bead cleanup work?

SPRI beads are directly added to sample reactions. In the presence of proprietary buffer, nucleic acids bind to bead surface. A magnetic field is used to pull the microparticles out of solution. Contaminants are aspirated and microparticles are thoroughly washed.

How do you clean sample cells?

Rinse the sample cell and the cap with tap water 5-6 times. Following rinsing with tap water (5-6 times), rinse the sample cell with DI water 3 times (make sure to rinse both the inside and the outside of the sample cell using the DI water bottle for rinsing).
