In this video we are going to look at this bad unclean data which is essentially a complex cross tab with multiple headers on both sides and clean it up using Power Query. What does clean up mean? Well I am sure you have already seen my videos which talk about 10 checklist items. So you look at your data, look at each column and ask yourself does it have a heading? No blank headings, no duplicate headings, no merge sales, no formulas. That is good. And then below the heading in that column there should be data which is consistent and that data should have one meaning, not 2 meanings and if it is dates, all dates, numbers, all numbers like that. Of course this is input data, so we do not need any summary or subtotals or grand totals. Formatting in the raw data is completely useless because nobody wants to look at the raw data. We use the raw data to create a report which is generally summarized and aggregated and that can have all the formatting you want. And one of the most common prop
