Ganga is a very important river for the country. The biggest environmental pressure is of course, the pollution. Due to increasing threats, and human dependency upon riverine ecosystems, many of the species are in endangered category. Farming techniques need to change. There is an urgent need to change. 2014 is a turning point in the history of Ganga rejuvenation and treatment. People never thought that Ganga water can ever be clean. It will be a major path-breaking event in the history of India. When we started our first survey, the pollution load, the fishing pressure and riverbed agriculture using fertilizer was very prevalent. We also spoke to the local communities about the river, but very few were aware.
