welcome everybody to this video this video is going to show you three methods that i use uh to help get some of that smoke sediment off of your engravings and make them look really clean and sharp so iamp;#39;m going to go over three different techniques the first is masking and then the other two are for after your engraving just trying to remove that smoke buildup and when each one of them is kind of more appropriate to use so youamp;#39;ll see hereamp;#39;s kind of a before uh engraving before i cleaned it and this is an after and thereamp;#39;s a huge difference in quality and how they look so letamp;#39;s go ahead and jump right in so the first method i want to show you is masking tape masking tape is kind of a preventive measure you take to stop that sediment from settling onto your wood you could find this low-tech masking tape on amazon or maybe a local supply store and you should be able to get a squeegee as well to go along with it thatamp;#39;ll help apply the masking

After you have engraved your wood, you can seal it with a clear coat or lacquer. This will give the engraving a finished look.
For this method, you will need a paper towel and white vinegar. To clean your laser engraved wood, dab your paper towel in vinegar (you can also use a soft piece of cloth) and then use it to wipe off the residue on your wood. Simply repeat the process until you are satisfied with the result.

Removing Engraving from Wood or Acrylic to remove laser engraving from wood, try lightly sanding the engraved area using fine-grit sandpaper until the engraving has been removed. Start with a higher grit sandpaper and move to a lower grit as needed.
Use White Vinegar and a Clean Cloth or Paper Towel White vinegar is an excellent option for cleaning almost any type of wood. This is one of the easiest methods for how to clean dust laser engraved wood and also deals with minor soot and residue. Vinegar is a solvent, meaning it dissolves a wide range of materials.

I like to do things the easiest and fastest way - and Ive found that to be using a magic eraser. Using the magic eraser with just a bit of water on it, its really fast and easy to rub off all the soot. After I go over it with the Magic Eraser, I use a dry paper towel and remove any remaining water or smudges.
