hello this is trevor lewis and this is another video from the voyager middle school steam lab in this video weamp;#39;re going to be looking at an engraved piece of wood this is plywood five millimeter plywood and you can see that thereamp;#39;s a lot of ash and soot that has been uh blown back down onto the surface of the finished piece so weamp;#39;re gonna look at different options for how to clean this up so there are several options one is if you like the effect you can clear coat it using some spray on clear coat and seal it in make sure to use good ventilation you can also sand it down using either manual sanding or a vibrating sander but that will sometimes get dust down into the engraving the other way iamp;#39;m trying to show you here although itamp;#39;s hard to do while holding the phone is you can use a brush and i actually have this special like stiff bristled brush that i use specifically for it it has a tendency to get a little bit messy thatamp;#39;s a good way

Can you buff out engraving on silver?

Removing an Engraving For other, more precious metals and precious or valuable items, it is recommended that you get the engraving removed professionally. For gold and silver plated metals, it is unlikely you will be able to remove the engraving without having the item replated.

How to clean up engraving?

Use White Vinegar and a Clean Cloth or Paper Towel This is one of the easiest methods for how to clean dust laser engraved wood and also deals with minor soot and residue.

How to clean laser engravings?

For this method, you will need a paper towel and white vinegar. To clean your laser engraved wood, dab your paper towel in vinegar (you can also use a soft piece of cloth) and then use it to wipe off the residue on your wood. Simply repeat the process until you are satisfied with the result.

How do you remove laser engraving residue?

Simply wipe off with a moistened cloth, followed by a wipe with a clean, dry cloth. Nano sponges (often referred to as dirt erasers) or erasers can also be very helpful when removing resistant residue.

What do you clean laser with?

Clean your CO2 laser mirrors with single-use Lens Cleaning Paper Tissue soaked in isopropyl or denatured alcohol of 90% or higher. You can also use a lint-free microfiber cloth, but be sure it is very clean. Do not be tempted to use cheaper cleaning solutions as they can leave residues behind.

Is baking soda or borax better for laser engraving?

From what we can tell, the different results seen between Borax and Baking Soda, when used for laser engraving, are not extreme but borax tends to yield better results. That being said playing with the ratios of baking soda to water might bring out better results.
