How to Keep ID Badges and Lanyards Clean Give your ID badge and lanyard a rinse with water to get rid of any excess grim. Then prepare a mixture of a neutral detergent and warm water in a container. Grab a paper towel and place it below your lanyard. Pat the lanyard dry with a clean paper towel.
You can clean it with mild soap and water, or use a mild, non-abrasive cleaner such as glass spray (windex). NEVER use jewelry polish, brass cleaner, toothpaste, or any other harsh abrasive or chemical cleaner. These types of cleaners will damage the finish of your badge.

Using a non-abrasive surface cleaner like Windex is an effective way to clean your badge without damaging the finish.
