We recommend cleaning logs with a combination of water and a wood-friendly detergent, i.e. TSP (Trisodium Phosphate Cleaner). We want to stress that we DO NOT recommend power-washing logs to clean them. Applying water under high pressure can be detrimental to the “health” of a log building.

If you just need to remove a small amount of grime for your log walls, you can use a product like Murphy's Oil Soap. Use a sponge to apply a small amount of the oil soap to your walls. After you have applied the soap, wipe down the walls. You may need to scrub some areas harder than others.
Try mixing a weak solution of water and dishwashing soap. Dip a soft cloth in the solution, wring it out and wipe the entire piece. You want a damp cloth, not a wet one. Don't saturate the wood, and rinse your cloth often.
Scrubbing with a soft brush and water from a garden hose cleans better than a pressure washer and is much safer for the wood. Even with regular washing, over time weathering and mold growth can set in on your logs. This is where sanding can help.
If you're cleaning paneling and textured walls, opt for a vacuum with a bristle brush that gently agitates the surface and simultaneously collects dust. Like with drywall, work from the top downward, focusing on corners, but work horizontally to capture dust along the full length of the wall as you descend.
Mix one cup TSP with one quart bleach and three quarts warm water. Protect your hands with gloves and make sure the room is well ventilated. Sponge on, then sponge off.

Bleach to Brighten Bleach shouldn't take the place of a log-wash (which cleans but does not brighten) to remove stains or dirt, but when combined with 1-part bleach and 4-parts water, it will work well to brighten your logs and kill any harbored mold or mildew.
