[Music] hi im joe gitter and today im going to show you how to easily clean and reuse frying oil a downside to deep frying is the large quantity of oil thats often required but unless the oil is smoked or used to fry fish its fine to reuse once you remove any solids our usual method is to pour the oil through a fine mesh strainer lined with a coffee filter which can take forever we found a speedier way for every cup of frying oil thats left over whisk together a quarter cup of water and one tablespoon of cornstarch then add the mixture to the cooled oil this will attract and trap the solids for easy removal gently heat the oil over low heat make sure you dont let it simmer you will want to stir it constantly with a heatproof spatula until the starch mixture begins to solidify this will take 10 to 12 minutes remove the oil from the heat and strain it through a fine mesh strainer you could also use a slotted spoon to fish out the gels mixture dont worry if the oil appears cloudy
