you begin by placing the cover on a flat and clean surface then you weight it down just prevent the cover from moving during the treatment process we normally use a Mars deadly eraser it has no natural oils in it and it will not produce any chemicals or leave residue on the surface of the paper then you just get a common parmesan grater and you grate the eraser until it forms a fine crumb you can then carefully pour this crumb onto the area which youre wanting to clean using clean fingers we dont use gloves because it causes static on the crumb you gently can rub the chrome around the area and you can see that the bits of eraser start going darker color as its picking up the dirt and then in the paper surface this is a more invasive way of cleaning than the spoke sponge however it is very good for getting into creases and its very good for lifting the ingrained dirt out of the paper surface so its just a methodical process you go down and you circle in circular motion the grated e

Small, localized deposits of dirt may be reduced by gentle rubbing with a surface cleaning sponge or a piece of a vinyl block eraser. When using the latter, cut the eraser into a wedge, pencil-point, or whatever will result in the best cleaning shape for this piece.
Most water stains are not actually caused by the water itself but from the tannins in the wood behind the paper, which dissolve when they come into contact with the water. Often these can be eliminated with a little bleach mixed with distilled water. (For oil and grease stains, try a white eraser.)
Blood is an organic substance that contains protein; the hot water will just cook the protein (gruesome but true), making the stain permanent.
Soaking blood stained fabric in cool water can help break up the stain and make it easier to remove. Wash as usual. Sometimes, soaking blood stained fabric and then washing it in the washing machine is enough to remove a dried blood stain.
Vulcanized natural rubber sponges can be very useful when cleaning paper. Sponges are more effective than brushes, but have greater potential for damage. They are not as effective or abrasive as plastic erasers. Suitable sponges are available from several archival supply companies.
Use a clean cotton bud and some clean cold water and gently dab the blood stain enough to moisten and dilute it slightly. Use a dry cotton bud to roll over the surface and mop up the blood. Do not allow the paper to become too wet as it will distort.
Grab your bottle of hydrogen peroxide! Just apply a small amount of hydrogen peroxide directly to the stain and watch as the red blood stain disappears. In the case of old or stubborn stains, reapply as needed. After the stain is removed, rinse the area with cold water to remove any peroxide that may be left behind.
Start by folding a piece of paper towel into a small section, then dampen and blot it so its not dripping wet. Press the (now) slightly damp towel to the stain with light to medium-light pressure. Dont leave the damp paper towel against the drawing paper. You want to touch and lift, touch and lift.
