The TRIM Function The TRIM function removes all spaces in a text string, except for single spaces between words. Below is an example of a report where some of the cells look like they are indented but the indentation is actually just extra spaces.
Select the cell or range of cells from which you want to remove white spaces. Use the shortcut key: Control + H to activate the find and replace option. In the find what input bar, insert a blank space using the space bar, and Replace With should remain blank.
Use the Trim formula to remove extra spaces Add the helper column to the end of your data. In the first cell of the helper column (C2), enter the formula to trim excess spaces =TRIM(A2) Copy the formula across the other cells in the column. Replace the original column with the one that has the cleaned data.
Removes all nonprintable characters from text. Use CLEAN on text imported from other applications that contains characters that may not print with your operating system. For example, you can use CLEAN to remove some low-level computer code that is frequently at the beginning and end of data files and cannot be printed.
It is also an inbuilt function in Excel. Type =CLEAN( in a cell and provide a text as an argument for using this function. Remember, it removes the non-printable character.
Whenever you want to remove blank spaces in your Excel sheets, perform these 4 quick steps: Select the cells (range, entire column or row) where you want to delete extra spaces. Click the Trim Spaces button on the Ablebits Data tab. Choose one or several options: Remove leading and trailing spaces. Click the Trim button.
Remove all spaces between numbers Press Ctrl + Space to select all cells in a column. Press Ctrl + H to open the Find Replace dialog box. Press Space bar in the Find What field and make sure the Replace with field is empty. Click on the Replace all button, and then press Ok. Voila! All spaces are removed.
