Students will ensure the table is clean and dry before placing the surgery pack on the surface. Sis Turner will confirm the outer cloth and autoclave tape are upright, with the outer flap and tape facing the student. Students must check that the tape indicators are intact. They will then carefully remove the tape without contaminating the package. For opening, the student will hold the tip of the folded back corner with one hand and move it back without crossing the sterile field. The same technique will be applied to the side corners using the left hand for the left tip and the right hand for the right corner. Finally, the last flap will be pulled towards the student, who will step back while avoiding turning their back to the sterile field, allowing the third person to complete the pack opening.
