The best chance for Don't Worry Darling 2 to happen is that it becomes a big hit on HBO Max, allowing the sequel to be made exclusively for the streaming service. However, audiences should not be expecting to see a Don't Worry Darling sequel anytime soon.
Back in Victory, now real Alice confronts Jack about entrapping her. Jack claims she wasn't happy, but she defends her job, her choices, and her free life. It's then explained that when the Victory men go to “work” they are actually rejoining the real world, so they can work to pay for the Victory simulation.
With the entirety of the Victory security team after her, Alice is able to narrowly squeeze through the gate that leads to her escape from the simulation. And just as the title flashes on the screen, we hear (but don't see) Alice gasping for air as she wakes up from the perfect nightmare.
What Did Shelley Do With Victory? Frank's wife, Shelley (Gemma Chan), stabbed him to death in the construct, angry at how he failed to stop Alice. Thus, he would die in the real world, too, allowing her to fully take over the operation.
In Wilde's version of "Don't Worry Darling" (featuring the edited screenplay), Florence Pugh's character, Alice, eventually discovers that her cookie-cutter existence is actually just a simulation, and she is being trapped in this false reality by her partner, Jack, played by Harry Styles.
While it is not explicitly shown, it is heavily implied that Jack, feeling totally alienated by Alice and wanting to maintain control over her, kidnaps her and holds her against her will so that they can both enter the simulation and live a happier life.
"Don't Worry Darling" Original Ending After Alice first breaks through the simulation via the portal disguised as a motel, she finds herself in a machine resembling the ones used for modern MRIs. Confused and weak, she screams for help, and Jack rushes in, half-naked.
How does Don't Worry Darling end? In a fit of shock and fury, Alice kills Jack—which apparently also kills him in the real world. (Who knows how or why?) She takes off toward the in-simulation Victory headquarters, where the husbands congregate every day to exit the VR and re-enter reality.
In the confrontation between her and Jack, she kills him; Bunny discovers them and as Alice tries to tell her the truth, Bunny reveals that she in fact knows this all is true and that she and her husband live there voluntarily so she can be with her children (who died in the real world).
