1) Using vinegar Put on gloves and goggles (THIS IS ARGUABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP OF ALL) Put vinegar into a spray bottle. Spray mold with the vinegar and let the vinegar sit for 2 to 4 hours. After the time has elapsed, rinse the gasket with water. Leave washer door open and let the rubber dry.
There are also a variety of home remedies for rejuvenating hardened rubber. We've heard of using brake fluid, transmission fluid, and a combination of both—something we strongly discourage. On the other hand, a combination of alcohol and wintergreen oil (3 to 1) is said to work well on rubber parts that can be soaked.
When the wash cycles have finished, mix a few drops of washing up liquids into warm water, and use a clean cloth to thoroughly wipe down your washing machine seal using the soapy solution, ensuring that you clean all around and underneath the seal too. And voila!
Apply a Baking Soda Paste Combine two tablespoons of baking soda and a bit of water until you form a paste. ... Use a soft cloth to apply the paste into the creases of the seal. Leave the paste on the rubber for 10 to 15 minutes. Use a bottle brush to scrub the rubber seal and get into the crannies.
If you reach under the washing machine door seal and run your hand across the rubber, it is possible to feel the black sludge that has developed there. This is indicative of mould or mildew. An issue of concern here is the material used in the construction of the door seal.
Alternative methods For smaller, lightly weathered rubber seals, a simpler method is sometimes just as effective; boil some water in the saucepan, add a small amount of soap, and submerge the seal. Every 5 minutes or so, remove the seal using tongs and test its flexibility and condition.
White vinegar – mixed with hot water and cycled through the washing machine can remove or prevent mold growth. Spray bottle – needed to get your solution all over the rubber gasket. Soft cloth – used to wipe down the excess solution and mold from the rubber gasket.

Vinegar is safe to use on machines made using natural rubber seals and parts constructed from ethylene-propylene, silicone, fluorocarbon, virgin Teflon, and butyl synthetic rubber seals.
Mix one part bleach with four parts water in the spray bottle. Use the spray bottle to spray and wipe away any remaining bleach areas from the rubber seal. Be sure to pull/push it gently to get in the grooves where moisture can grow and mould can develop. Wearing rubber gloves will protect your hands from the bleach.
