[Music] hi everybody I December I am a non-profit consultant located in North Bethesda Maryland and this video Id like to talk about something that I get this question a lot is whether our organizations should produce an annual report so the answer is yes and Ill say I kind of looked around and said yes for a reason a lot of nonprofits want to squeeze every little bit of information about their programs and you know letter from the executive director and the Board Chairman and all this great stuff into a very expensive you know a 12 page booklet that they have to print for color and pictures Im not really crazy about that anymore I used to think that was a good idea but honestly you can accomplish so much with a lot less paper and a lot less writing and as you know people nowadays have shorter attention spans thanks to technology so I would rephrase it and say dont print an annual report print an impact report thats a great buzz word buzz phrase thats going around the nonprofit

What Is a Nonprofit Annual Report? Emphasize your organizations mission statement. Express gratitude for your supporters and corporate partnerships. Showcase your organizations most successful initiatives. Celebrate your beneficiaries and their stories. Deliver financial transparency to stakeholders.
Annual report vs. Impact report. An Annual Report focuses on financial health, operations, and business strategies white an Impact Report highlights societal and environmental contributions and outcomes.
The key components of nonprofit financial statements include the Statement of Activities (Income Statement), Statement of Financial Position (Balance Sheet), Statement of Functional Expenses, and Statement of Cash Flow.
When speaking about NPOs the public spells them many ways. This includes nonprofit, non-profit and also non profit. While it is acceptable to use any of these versions the most widely accepted spelling is nonprofit all one word.
Nonprofit Annual Report Best Practices Start With a Clear Plan. Highlight Your Supporters. Recognize High-Impact Contributors. Engage Readers With Compelling Visuals. Be Truthful Transparent. Inspire Your Audience to Take Action.
Annual reports are quite comprehensive and can run anywhere from 5 to 180 pages, depending on organizational size. Theyre also highly visual, particularly when it comes to the financial section.
Annual reports usually document what your nonprofit has accomplished in the past year, but consider including a vision of what lies ahead. Most annual reports feature photos and financial reports (illustrating the nonprofits revenue and expenses), and acknowledge contributors.
The contents of your annual report should be visually compelling, underscore your nonprofits commitment to transparency, and explain your organizations mission, progress, and outcomes.
