thank you for thank you for joining us today my name is Roger McOwen Im the director of the center for agricultural law and Taxation at Iowa State University in Ames Iowa with me on the presentation today is Christine tidan the staff attorney for the center and were going to talk about a very important issue thats come up in recent months in Iowa as well as in other places across the country and that has to do with companies that are trying to acquire easement rights across private property to construct a transmission line to transmit electricity generated by large-scale aerogenerator operations from one part of the country to another part of the country specifically in Iowa The Proposal is to construct a line and acquire easements across Iowa from the northwest corner of the state to the southeast corner of the state this issue has come up with other companies besides the company that is operating in Iowa uh to do the same thing in other parts of the country particularly in in Kans
