Apply rubbing alcohol or hairspray to the stain. The alcohol in these products is an excellent choice for getting ink out of clothes because its effective at breaking down the oils in permanent markers. If you dont have rubbing alcohol or hairspray to hand, try using antibacterial hand wash instead.
You can also remove an ink stain from your favourite shirt using white vinegar and cornstarch. Begin the cleaning process by first dampening the ink stain with white vinegar. In a separate bowl, mix 2 parts white vinegar and 3 parts cornstarch to make a paste.
Apply rubbing alcohol, hairspray, or hand sanitizer to dilute the stain, making it easier to remove during the wash. These solvents help tackle most types of ink stains, but remember to test the stained garment for colorfastness first, as they can also attack fabric dyes and cause further damage.
Dry cleaning is the best option for ink stain removal, and at Dependable Cleaners, we have several different spotting agents that we use to work out a stain, depending on the type of ink. For example, while BIC pen ink is easily removable, Indian ink or gel ink are much more difficult to remove from fabric.
How do you remove ink after it has dried? Put down a towel you dont mind getting stained, and place the stained garment on top of it. Treat the stain with rubbing alcohol or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer or hair spray and let sit for at least 10 minutes before blotting and rinsing with cold water.
In the dry cleaning industry, there are multiple brands and formulations of ink removers. Our company uses P.O.G, Alba-Ink, and Release to remove most of the ink. The last trace of dye is typically removed using a very specialized type of bleach called Titanium Stripper.
Apply rubbing alcohol, hairspray, or hand sanitizer to dilute the stain, making it easier to remove during the wash. These solvents help tackle most types of ink stains, but remember to test the stained garment for colorfastness first, as they can also attack fabric dyes and cause further damage.
Place a paper towel under the stain and sponge it with rubbing alcohol. Use an eyedropper to apply alcohol directly onto the stain or, for a larger spot, pour the alcohol into a small dish, immerse the stained area and soak for 15 minutes. The ink should begin to dissolve almost immediately.
Steps to remove ink stains from clothes Squirt alcohol-based hand sanitizer on the stain. Use enough to saturate the stain. Apply Liquid Clorox 2 for Colors to the stain. Use the cap to apply the Clorox 2 product directly to the stain and gently rub it in. Machine wash the clothing.
Apply a liberal amount of hair spray on ink to loosen stain. Mix together a solution of one-quart warm water, 1/2 teaspoon liquid dishwashing detergent (such as Dawn), and 1 tablespoon white vinegar. Soak stained fabric in solution for 30 minutes. Remove and rinse garment with clean water, then launder per usual.
