A Title Block is used to name the drawing part, time and author. Essentially, it provides important information for when the document is printed. In AutoCAD, you can create your own Title Block template or import a pre–made template.
Only the shop drawings can be changed as they are yet in the pre-development stage. The as-built drawings, on the other hand, cannot be changed as the building has already been constructed. However, they can be changed during the renovation works.
The title block gives the reader of the drawing critical information about the document, including the project name, author, date of issue, topic, its place within a drawing series, etc.
In general, engineers, steel detailers, steel modelers and fabricators are responsible for creating shop drawings. They generally include the following information: Information required for fabrication, such as dimensions and special instructions including connection details.
Title block It contains the title of the drawing, name of the client, name of the architect, builder or contracting company who drew it, date it was drawn, scale and version number. The architect or builder may also add other information, such as their company logo, spaces for people's signatures and copyright details.
Hand-made shop drawings can be very efficient, especially if you are proficient in illustrating depth. But even if you can only draw roughly in 2D, hand-made drawings are useful notes for creating very simple parts and demonstrating to a shop manager what you want your part to do when you seek their input.
Specifics aside, Millwork Shop Drawings should average out to roughly 5% of the Project Cost. That would mean a $30,000 Commercial Millwork Project should cost approximately $1,500 to produce Shop Drawings.
The Contractor is assumed to have approved the shop drawings when submitting them to the Owner or Designer and is “responsible for the accuracy and conformity of its submittals.” ConsensusDocs 200, § 3.14.
Place Some Paper Under Your Hand to Stop Your Drawings from Smudging. The classic way to guard against smudging a drawing is to place a piece of CLEAN paper under your hand whilst you draw. Use plain smooth paper, something like photocopy paper, wax paper, or tracing paper.
A clean drawing is smaller, easier to work with, and less likely to run into any issues when sharing, working remotely, and collaborating with colleagues or clients. Here are a few ways to clean up an AutoCAD drawing quickly thanks to the Purge, Overkill, and Audit commands within AutoCAD.
