[Music] [Music] obviously when youre reviewing a manuscript you have a kind of parallel life as an author as well so how do your experiences uh uh rather how do your identity as an author play a part when youre reviewing manuscripts um the whole process of peer reviewing can be quite stressful and i think one of the more stressful ways is maybe uh lets call them uh very direct comments about a manuscript which can be phrased in a certain way which could be constructive but often isnt um when youre reviewing a manuscript is it something you do to go out of your way to be um constructive and or author friendly um is it okay if i answer this question yeah thanks uh well um my usually my trouble as an author has always been uh unspecific questions uh from the reviewers for instance people would say i dont understand this please clarify um what how do you want me to clarify please clarify is not its a very generic statement it can go in any direction so uh as a reviewer uh the thing

What are the rules for peer reviewers?

The golden rules The identity of the reviewers must be kept confidential unless open peer review is used. Reviewers advise and make recommendations; editors make the decisions.
