Hi everyone, Kevin here. Today I want to show you how you can both get and use the brand new Microsoft Lists. Its now generally available and you can start taking advantage of it. And although its generally available, there are still many features rolling out, but thats a typical web product where over time, more and more value will be landing. First off, what is Microsoft Lists and what makes it unique? Well, just like the name implies, Microsoft Lists allows you to create lists to organize information. With those lists, you can share it with others and you can collaborate with others on those lists. Now, so far, that sounds like everything that you could do in a spreadsheet with a list. Whats unique about Microsoft Lists? Well, a few things. First off, you can visualize your data in many different ways. Once you get your data into a list, you could view it in a standard grid format, just like in Microsoft Excel. You could also view it in a card form

Why use an inquiry chart? It fosters critical thinking and strengthens reading skills. It teaches younger students to generate meaningful questions about a topic and learn to organize their writing. Students build upon prior knowledge or thoughts about the topic by sharing interesting facts.
The KWL chart is useful to complete formative assessment in the classroom. It allows the teacher to find out the students prior knowledge on a particular topic. From this knowledge the teacher is then able to gear their lessons based upon this information.
In addition to these informal diagnostic assessments, I also use KWL charts frequently. These are diagnostic, formative, and summative because they ask students to identify what they know (K), what they want to know (W), and what they learned (L) during a particular lesson.
Teacher Directions: NOTE: The KWL Chart is used as a diagnostic assessment in lesson 1 and as a summative and review in lesson 6.
Reading Strategies: The KWL Method. KWL, an acronym for Know, Want-to-know, and Learned, is an effective way to read with purpose. KWL is easy to apply and can lead to docHub improvement in your ability to learn efficiently and to retain what you have learned. Before reading, assess and record what you know.
The INQUIRY CHART (I-CHART) is a graphic organizer that allows students to gather information about a topic from several sources. Teachers design the I-chart around several questions about a topic. Students read or listen to several sources on the topic and record answers to the posed questions within the I-chart.
Teachers can use KWL charts as informal assessments to determine whether students really got it and how to modify their instructional approach for the students who struggled with the new content. Students can use KWL charts as a study guide for unit exams.
How to use a KWL chart Start with column 1: Know. Under the first column, have students share what they already know about (or associate with) the topic at hand. Fill out column 2: Want to know. Complete column 3: Learned. S: Still want to know. I: Importance. F: Found. R: Remember.
